Alan Pardew: 'I will not clash with Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp'

Crystal Palace manager Alan Pardew sees a lot of himself in Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp but plays down the prospect of a clash of passionate styles at Anfield.

Crystal Palace boss Alan Pardew has suggested that Liverpool's Jurgen Klopp is a younger version of him, but insisted that similar animated styles would not be a problem on Sunday.

Both managers are known for their passionate displays, and the Eagles coach is anticipating a couple of "intense" showings in the dugout when he and Klopp come face to face at Anfield.

Pardew, 54, has been guilty of clashing with Arsene Wenger, Martin O'Neill and Manuel Pellegrini in touchline spats down the years, but he does not expect similar hostility to creep in against the German, 47.

"I do see him on the sideline, and I look at myself and think 'That's very similar to how I am," he is quoted as saying by the Liverpool Echo. "He never gives too many negative things out, even though he's quite involved in the game, and I like to think I don't either.

"We'll both be intense, Sunday, to try and get our teams to win, but he's had a great start and he'll be looking to continue that. Whenever I've come up against a manager who's similar to myself on the sidelines - Tony Pulis is very tight to the touchline - I never have an issue really, so I don't expect there to be any kind of issue on Sunday.

"I like how he is on the sideline, I think you can send messages to your players in a positive way, and you've just got to be careful not to do it in a negative way."

Palace sit one point and one place behind the Reds in 10th.
