Crystal Palace striker Glenn Murray has revealed his pride at playing a part in Steven Gerrard's final appearance for Liverpool at Anfield.

The long-serving Reds skipper played his 709th game for his boyhood club in Saturday's 3-1 defeat, in which Murray scored in stoppage time after seeing his initial penalty saved by Simon Mignolet.

Murray tweeted: "Was an Honour to be part of Gerrard's final Anfield farewell. One of the Premier Leagues & Liverpool's greatest ever #LFC #CPFC #StevieG"

Gerrard's 17-year Liverpool career ends next week when they travel to Stoke City.
