Swansea's Garry Monk: 'I hope Jonjo Shelvey makes headlines for right reasons'

Swansea City boss Gary Monk hopes that Jonjo Shelvey will make the headlines for the "right reasons" when he plays against Liverpool this evening.

Swansea City manager Garry Monk is hopeful that Jonjo Shelvey will make headlines against his former club Liverpool for the "right reasons" when the two teams go head to head at the Liberty Stadium tonight.

The midfielder scored an own goal and was handed a four-match ban for elbowing Emre Can during the Reds' 4-1 victory over the Swans at Anfield earlier this season.

"Jonjo always seems to grab the headlines against Liverpool, let's hope he does it for the right reasons," the Daily Star quotes Monk as saying.

"Whenever you play against a former club you are probably highlighted that bit more. We know he's really fond of that club, he always wants to show what he can do and hopefully he can do that on the night."

Eleven points separate ninth-placed Swansea and fifth-placed Liverpool in the Premier League table.
