Liverpool looking to extend remarkable Premier League unbeaten record in December

Liverpool looking to extend remarkable Premier League unbeaten record

Liverpool will face Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday looking to protect an unbeaten record in the month of December which stretches back five years.

The festive period is always the busiest time of year for Premier League clubs, with fixtures coming thick and fast both in the league and in the Champions League and EFL Cup.

However, the Reds have coped well with the issue in recent years, remaining unbeaten in their last 34 top-flight games in the month of December.

Liverpool's ongoing run, which they will be looking to extend to 35 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, is the longest unbeaten run any club has enjoyed in a specific month in Premier League history.

The last league defeat Liverpool suffered in December was a memorable one, though, with Bournemouth edging a seven-goal thriller 4-3 in 2016.

Jurgen Klopp's side boast a fine recent record against Spurs, losing just one of their last 17 Premier League meetings and winning each of their last six.

Indeed, Liverpool's current run of three successive away wins over Tottenham is their longest ever in this fixture in the league.

The Reds are also looking to avoid losing back-to-back matches in London for the first time since April 2015, having been beaten at West Ham United last month.
