Liverpool chiefs 'have doubts over long-term Jurgen Klopp future'

Liverpool are reportedly preparing for the possibility of Jurgen Klopp leaving his position as head coach in the next couple of years.

Liverpool are reportedly preparing for the possibility of Jurgen Klopp leaving in the next couple of years.

The 53-year-old famously led the Reds to last season's Premier League title and has also delivered the Champions League during a successful period at Anfield.

Liverpool have struggled during the 2020-21 campaign, though, and are currently battling for a top-four position, sitting sixth in the table, five points behind fourth-placed West Ham United.

According to The Mirror, Liverpool chiefs have doubts over Klopp's long-term future, with the former Borussia Dortmund boss viewed as the leading candidate to replace Joachim Low as the Germany manager.

The report claims that Low could leave his position after this summer's European Championships or at the end of the 2022 World Cup, when his contract is due to expire.

The Merseyside giants have allegedly identified Steven Gerrard as their number one choice to replace Klopp, with the club's former midfielder impressing during his time in charge of Rangers.
