Joe Ledley: 'Defeat to Liverpool is devastating'

Crystal Palace midfielder Joe Ledley admits that his side's 2-1 defeat to 10-man Liverpool at Selhurst Park is "devastating".

Crystal Palace midfielder Joe Ledley has admitted that the team are 'devastated' by their 2-1 defeat at the hands of Liverpool at Selhurst Park this afternoon.

The hosts were a goal and a man to the good going into the final 20 minutes after Ledley had opened the scoring and James Milner had been sent off for the visitors.

However, Alex McCarthy's error allowed Roberto Firmino to level things up before Christian Benteke scored a contentious penalty in stoppage time to condemn Palace to a 12th straight league game without a win.

"Getting in a position like that it's devastating. Usually getting into a position like that at home we are okay at seeing things out," Ledley told BBC Sport.

"Second half, 1-0 up and they are down to ten men - we should be seeing that out. The second goal was harsh I think. I don't think it was a penalty, but if you slide to ground like that in the box you are always going to put it into the ref's mind.

"The run is not ideal, of course. We need to get some confidence back within the camp and hopefully start winning games."

The defeat leaves Palace in 15th place, only nine points clear of the bottom three having not won a league game since before Christmas.
