Adam Lallana reflects on "frustrating" debut season

Liverpool midfielder Adam Lallana admits that his maiden campaign at the club has been a "frustrating" one due to a number of niggling injuries.

Liverpool midfielder Adam Lallana has admitted that his debut season with the club has been a "frustrating" one due to a number of injuries.

Lallana has made 38 appearances in all competitions but has struggled to hold down a regular starting spot in the team as a result of numerous niggles throughout the campaign.

It has been an up-and-down season for the club too, but Lallana believes that their struggles will help the players in the long run and is already looking forward to a more successful 2015-16 campaign.

"It's been really frustrating. I never really got going and there was no consistency in my form," he told the club's official website.

"We've had a couple of tough spells as a team this season but when you have hard times together, you come out of it in a better place and I believe that will happen here. All the new players are going to be better for the experiences of this season. The pressure is always on at a club like Liverpool and everyone has seen that this year.

"It will be a big pre-season for me to ensure I get fit and stay fit. We need a much better start to next season. I'm desperate to do well here and contribute as much as I can."

Lallana also stressed that finishing in the top four is still an option this season, with Liverpool currently four points adrift of Manchester United with three games remaining.
