Martin Kelly: 'Luis Suarez was in tears after Crystal Palace game'

Martin Kelly admits that Luis Suarez broke down in tears after Liverpool surrendered a three-goal lead against Crystal Palace last season to end their title hopes.

Martin Kelly has revealed that Luis Suarez was crying in the dressing room following Liverpool's collapse against Crystal Palace last season.

Kelly, who now plays for the Eagles, admitted that the Uruguayan broke down in tears after the Reds surrendered a three-goal lead at Selhurst Park to draw with Palace last season, which all but ended Brendan Rodgers's side's title hopes.

He told the Liverpool Echo: "Luis [Suarez] was in tears and I felt so sorry him for him because he had given so much for the team.

"Everyone had worked so hard to put the club in a position to win the title. There had been so many highs during the season and there was a real sense of togetherness in the squad.

"But with that result everyone knew it was over. Palace burst the bubble and brought Liverpool crashing back down to earth."

Palace and Liverpool face off in their Premier League clash on Sunday.
