Jan Molby backs Liverpool's Jordan Rossiter to become a Premier League star

Jan Molby is confident that 18-year-old Jordan Rossiter will become a Premier League star for Liverpool.

Former Liverpool midfielder Jan Molby has claimed that youngster Jordan Rossiter has all the qualities to become a star player in the Premier League.

The 18-year-old Liverpudlian had a starting role in the Reds' 1-1 draw against Bordeaux in the Europa League on Thursday night.

For the majority of the game, Rossiter was partnered with fellow teenager Pedro Chirivella in the middle of the park, and Molby was impressed with his performance, but has urged the club to give the youngster time to develop.

"Jordan Rossiter is going to be a Premier League footballer," Molby wrote in the Liverpool Echo. "The only question is how far he can take his career?

"Rossiter still has some way to go, and that's why we shouldn't put any undue pressure on his shoulders. Just let him develop. He deserves to be given the time to bring on his game.

"He will make mistakes - that's what happens with young footballers. Liverpool just have to make sure he is given the chance to progress, because he has already shown he is capable of taking his opportunities when they arise."

In the Premier League, Liverpool have had a poor run of results having suffered back-to-back defeats.
