Ings: 'I would have traded goal for win'

Liverpool striker Danny Ings has admitted that he would have sacrificed his first goal in more than two years for victory at West Bromwich Albion.

The 25-year-old slammed home from close range to give the Reds an early lead over the Baggies, the goal representing his first for the club since October 2015.

Although Mohamed Salah then added a second for the Reds on 72 minutes, late goals from Jake Livermore and Salomon Rondon snatched a point for the hosts in a 2-2 draw at The Hawthorns.

"I've been working so hard for the last two years for that moment," Ings told the Liverpool website after the match.

"It's been a hell of a mountain that I've had to climb to get in that position and I'm just glad that I'm around it right now with the lads.

"I'm getting some game time [and] today's definitely a positive step for me, but I would've preferred the three points, that's for sure."

Liverpool remain third in the table following the draw, three points ahead of fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur.
