Jordon Ibe: 'Liverpool, Bournemouth fighting for same things this season'

Jordon Ibe says that Liverpool and Bournemouth will be "fighting for the same things" this season.

Jordon Ibe has claimed that his former club Liverpool are "fighting for the same things" as Bournemouth this season.

The England Under-21 international signed for the Cherries in a £15m deal from Liverpool earlier this summer after learning that his first-team appearances would be limited.

Last season, Bournemouth finished 16th in the Premier League table, five points above relegation, while Liverpool were 18 points above the coastal club in eighth.

"It was a tough one but I needed to think what was best for me, which is playing, and when you scale it up, Liverpool and Bournemouth are fighting for the same things," Ibe told The Times.

"The manager (Jurgen Klopp) told me that Eddie Howe showed interest and not being in the Europa League and Champions League there would be limited chances to play so I thought it would be the best move to come here.

"Liverpool are not in the Europa League so would it really make a difference? And I would have more chances to play at Bournemouth than Liverpool so it doesn't really matter."

The Merseyside outfit had a buy-back option implemented in the deal.
