Mats Hummels: 'Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp will win Premier League'

Mats Hummels is certain that new Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp will deliver Premier League titles to Anfield.

Borussia Dortmund defender Mats Hummels has claimed that his former coach Jurgen Klopp will keep to his word and deliver Premier League titles for Liverpool.

The 48-year-old replaced the axed Brendan Rodgers last Thursday, before vowing to win at least one league crown during his stay on Merseyside.

The German won back-to-back Bundesliga titles with Dortmund in 2011 and 2012, and Hummels, who was signed for the Signal Iduna Park club by Klopp, says that his mentor is "absolutely capable" of lifting Liverpool to similar heights.

"I am convinced Klopp can win the league at Liverpool," the Germany international is quoted as saying by The Mirror. "He has shown he doesn't need the biggest transfer budget or the biggest name to win the biggest trophies.

"Of course there are teams in England that have no financial restrictions when it comes to buying players, but he showed at Dortmund that he has the intelligence to combat that. Perhaps not immediately, but in time I am sure that he can.

"He is a winner, I know him. His long term goal won't just be to qualify for the Champions League, and settle for that. It will be to challenge Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea, and Arsenal for the title, and he is absolutely capable of doing that."

Liverpool sit 10th in the table, six points behind leaders Manchester City ahead of Klopp's first match - Saturday's trip to Tottenham Hotspur.

The Anfield outfit have gone 25 years without winning English football's most prestigious prize.
