Jordan Henderson: 'Brighton & Hove Albion penalty decision soft'

Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson says that the decision to award Brighton & Hove Albion a penalty in the Reds' 5-1 win was "soft".

Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson has said that the decision to award Brighton & Hove Albion a penalty in the Reds' 5-1 win was "soft".

The spot kick, which was awarded for a push on Shane Murray, was converted by Seagulls striker Glenn Murray and came as the only negative for Jurgen Klopp's side, who earned a fifth win in six Premier League games.

"It was very good, the performance was good for 90 minutes," Henderson told BBC Sport. "We're disappointed we didn't keep the clean sheet but overall we're delighted with the result."

"I don't think so," Henderson said when asked if he thought the push merited a penalty. "People made up their mind on it. I thought it was soft and I told the referee that.

"They scored the penalty to try and lift it, but we scored some brilliant goals. The front three were breathtaking at times."

Two strikes from Roberto Firmino and another for Philippe Coutinho had the visitors in control, before Lewis Dunk's own goal added to the scoresheet.
