Liverpool defender Jon Flanagan has admitted that he feels more confident following the plaudits he received from captain Steven Gerrard.
The England skipper was full of praise for the 20-year-old following his performance in the Reds' 3-3 draw with Merseyside rivals Everton at Goodison Park last month.
"It's always great for someone like Steven to say that about you," Flanagan told the club's official website. "He has been my hero growing up, so for him to say those nice words is great for me.
"In the changing room afterwards, all the lads and the manager said well done. It's always good when your teammates recognise what you have done on the day. It does give you confidence going into the next game."
Liverpool are currently second in the Premier League table, five points adrift of leaders Arsenal.
