FA make refereeing change

Mike Jones took charge of Liverpool's visit to Manchester City after it was reportedly decided that it would be unwise for Andre Marriner to officiate.

Marriner was the name originally on the teamsheet but he was the referee that took charge of the game during which Luis Suarez racially abused Patrice Evra.

Liverpool announced this evening that they would not appeal the eight-match ban handed to Suarez by the Football Association.

City led the game at a rainy Etihad Stadium 2-0 at half time thanks to goals from Sergio Aguero and Yaya Toure.
