Jose Enrique: 'Daniel Sturridge can be Premier League's top scorer'

Liverpool defender Jose Enrique backs his teammate Daniel Sturridge to win the Golden Boot in the Premier League this season.

Liverpool defender Jose Enrique feels that Daniel Sturridge will challenge for the Golden Boot this season.

The Reds have won both their games against Stoke City and Aston Villa 1-0 this season with Sturridge netting the winner on both occasions, and Enrique thinks that his teammate will be high up the scoring charts when the season ends.

"He's a top player and I think he can challenge for the top scorer this season," Enrique told the Liverpool Echo.

"If he has good luck with [avoiding] injuries then I think if he continues in this form, he will be right up there. For me he's got everything you want from a striker. He is quick, strong and can play with both feet.

"I'll be claiming the assist [against Villa] but it was all down to Danny and Philippe Coutinho [who] left the ball for him and he did the rest."

Sturridge has scored 13 goals in 18 appearances since moving from Chelsea for £12m in January.
