Liverpool winger Stewart Downing has claimed that his side's performance during their 4-0 win over Fulham yesterday was "perfect".
Downing scored one and set up another to help Liverpool on their way to the win, but the England international was keen to focus on the team's performance as a whole.
The 28-year-old believes that the Reds' defensive performance was just as impressive as their attacking one, and called for greater consistency from his side.
"We needed a big performance, I thought it was perfect in every way. Four great goals and we defended very well. A great team performance and the manager is very happy," Downing told the club's official website.
"We wanted to start well and get in front - but not only get in front, stay in front. When we get goals then concede sloppy goals, we end up drawing or falling behind.
"There was a bit of ruthlessness now in attacking and finishing the chances we had. That was the pleasing thing and the manager has stressed that we have to do that week in, week out - not just every third or fourth week."
Liverpool now sit eighth in the Premier League table, while Fulham drop to 13th.
