Dalglish: Sterling "showed his class"

Liverpool legend Kenny Dalglish believes that Raheem Sterling's two-goal showing against Bournemouth was the ideal way to bounce back from the Reds' defeat to Manchester United.

Brendan Rodgers's team lost 3-0 to United last Sunday with Sterling guilty of missing a series of chances for the visitors, but the England international responded with a brace in Wednesday's 3-1 win against the Championship leaders in the League Cup.

Dalglish told The Mirror: "Raheem Sterling showed his class in midweek, scoring twice for Liverpool after his missed chances in the defeat at Manchester United.

"If you're a striker, you're obviously happier when you score than if you miss. But I don't think the wee man's confidence has been affected in any way, shape or form.

"I think the goals he scored at Bournemouth in the Capital One Cup reflected the fact that it didn't faze him that he missed so many chances against Manchester United last weekend."

Sterling was given his Premier League debut as a 17-year-old by Dalglish back in 2012.
