Dalglish explains Gerrard absence

Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish has said that he left Steven Gerrard out of Sunday's 1-0 defeat by West Bromwich Albion as "a precaution".

Having been guilty of missing a number of chances in front of goal, the Reds slumped to their fourth loss in six matches thanks to Peter Odemwingie's strike.

When asked why Gerrard was not named in the squad, Dalglish told reporters: "It was just a precaution. He'll be okay."

Liverpool have moved down to eighth in the Premier League table following the defeat.
