Paul Clement: 'Carlo Ancelotti a good fit for Liverpool'

Derby County boss Paul Clement suggests that former colleague Carlo Ancelotti has the credentials to manage Liverpool.

Derby County head coach Paul Clement has suggested that Carlo Ancelotti has what it takes to manage Liverpool.

The Merseysiders are looking for a new manager after parting company with Brendan Rodgers on Sunday, with former Real Madrid and Chelsea boss Ancelotti emerging as one of the favourites to take charge at Anfield.

Clement, who worked as Ancelotti's assistant at Paris Saint-Germain and Real before taking charge of Derby in the summer, has said that the Italian has the experience needed to make Liverpool successful.

"He had a great career as a player, and a sterling career as a manager - in terms of the clubs he's managed," Clement told Sky Sports News. "The three wins in the Champions League - [managing] in England, France and Italy as well.

"He's got all the credibility, he's a fantastic man-manager. He's enjoying a little bit of rest at the moment but he's got a lot to offer.

"He's going to want to be going to a big club, a club where he's got a chance of being successful and winning. And there's certainly one available now."

Ancelotti has also managed PSG, AC Milan and Juventus during his career.
