Liverpool stalwart Jamie Carragher has denied that the club's illustrious history adds extra pressure to the current crop of players ahead of Saturday's FA Cup final against Chelsea.
The Reds have a long and storied history, with the bulk of their success coming in the 1970s and '80s when they dominated English football, but their trophy-winning exploits have dwindled somewhat since those glory days.
However, Carragher believes that the club's past will not be a factor in Saturday's match as Liverpool look to complete a cup double.
"You just go out and play. You play for Liverpool. We're aware of the past but you don't think about that leading up to the game," said the former England international.
"I don't think it's been in anyone's thoughts. We've got a great history, we know that, and we want to keep that going.
"I don't think it's an added pressure – certainly not for me."
Carragher will be looking to pick up a third FA Cup winners' medal in Saturday's final, having already triumphed in 2001 and 2006.
