John Barnes believes that Kenny Dalglish won't be feeling the pressure after Liverpool's recent poor form.

Liverpool legend John Barnes has backed Reds boss Kenny Dalglish to get the club out of its current slump.

The Reds lost 2-0 at Newcastle on Sunday and are now 16 points adrift of the Champions League places, with Dalglish coming in for criticism.

Barnes, who was one of Dalglish's star signings from his first stint as Anfield boss, is confident that recent abuse won't affect the Scot.

"No-one is immune. There are people talking about it - we have seen it, we have heard it," said Barnes.

"It does happen, but you also have to be realistic in terms of the effect it will have on what you are trying to achieve.

"And the people in the know - how much are they going to support you? Kenny is well supported, so he won't take any notice of that."

Liverpool have lost six of their last seven Premier League matches.
