LMA chief executive Richard Bevan: Andre Villas-Boas not in talks with Liverpool

AVB had "no contact" from Liverpool

League Managers' Association chief executive Richard Bevan has revealed that Liverpool were not in contact with Andre Villas-Boas over the managerial vacancy last week.

The former Chelsea boss has been tipped to become Kenny Dalglish's successor, with reports claiming that the Portuguese coach has been on the Reds' radar since the dismissal of the Scottish boss.

"If you look at the whole recruitment process - you've got clubs, you've got betting companies, everybody's speculating," Bevan told Sky Sports News.

"In fact I saw last week we had AVB at the top of the potential managers for Liverpool. I spoke to him last Thursday, he had no contact at all with the club."

Wigan Athletic manager Roberto Martinez, former England boss Fabio Capello and ex-Liverpool coach Rafael Benitez have all been linked with the position.
