Aldridge: Suarez "nailed on" for award

Former Liverpool striker John Aldridge has claimed that there will be "something seriously wrong" if Luis Suarez is not named Player of the Year.

The Uruguayan has plundered 28 goals for the Reds this season, despite missing the first five games through suspension, and Aldridge believes that Suarez should be given the award.

He told the Liverpool Echo: "Suarez is nailed on for the Golden Boot and he has more assists than anyone in the league.

"If he doesn't get the PFA Player of the Year award there will be something seriously wrong. I've heard one or two things about how players won't vote for him because of what's gone on in previous seasons. That is just wrong.

"He has behaved impeccably this season. Not only has he been the top flight's outstanding player but he's also kept out of trouble. He has learned from past mistakes."

The Reds are currently second in the Premier League.
