Sevilla forward Luis Alberto has expressed regret at not being able to showcase his ability in La Liga before completing a move to Liverpool.
The 20-year-old is on the verge of a £6.8m move to Anfield after a season spent on loan with Barcelona B.
Despite describing the switch as an "important step" in his career, the Spanish Under-21 international said that Sevilla is still his home.
"I've always said Sevilla is the club where I grew up, it's my home," The Mirror quotes Alberto as saying. "I owe a lot to Sevilla, although I'm leaving a little hurt because I haven't had the chance to show what I can do in the Primera Division.
"It seems like I was going to return to Sevilla, but the Liverpool thing came up and it's a very important step. I've had to take a difficult and important decision and I hope I've got it right."
Alberto scored 11 goals for Barca's B team last year.
