Former defender Daniel Agger says that he misses playing for Liverpool, after representing the club during a legends fixture with Bayern Munich on Saturday.

Former Liverpool defender Daniel Agger has revealed that he misses playing football at Anfield, after representing the club during a legends game with Bayern Munich on Saturday.

In 2016, Agger made the decision to end his professional career at the age of 31 and the Dane has suggested that he has limited himself to only kicking a ball when featuring alongside fellow past players in legends fixtures.

However, Agger - who spent over eight years with the Merseyside giants - has acknowledged that he misses playing in the atmosphere at the club's famous home.

The 33-year-old told the club's official website: "It's just being in a game, feeling the atmosphere and playing for something.

"When you get out of football, it's difficult to reproduce that in anything you do. That has been the hardest thing for me. It's always nice to see the guys and to play alongside them is even better.

"The most important thing was the show and the cause, helping the foundation. It was hard but it's always nice to be back, especially in front of a full house. I haven't touched the ball since the Sydney trip last year, so it was nice to touch it again but it's getting harder and harder."

Agger made a total of 232 appearances during his time at Liverpool.
