Adam Bogdan: 'Liverpool Premier League debut got off to a nightmare start'

Liverpool goalkeeper Adam Bogdan admits that his Premier League debut for the club got off to a "nightmare" start when he conceded after just three minutes.

Liverpool goalkeeper Adam Bogdan has admitted that he endured a "nightmare" start to his Premier League debut for the club against Watford this afternoon.

Filling in for the injured Simon Mignolet, Bogdan fumbled an early corner to allow Nathan Ake to poke home the opening goal after just three minutes, although replays showed that the keeper had briefly recovered to get two hands on the ball before it was knocked from his grasp again.

Bogdan refused to blame the referee, however, and has insisted that he will work hard in training to ensure that he does not make a similar mistake again.

"It was a wrong time to concede. I dropped the first ball which is a mistake, I hold my hands up, but I felt I recovered the ball and he kicked it out of my hands. But if I catch the first one it's not a goal," he is quoted as saying by BBC Sport.

"I had both hands on the ball but we are talking about a split-second. It's not easy for the referee to see. If I catch the first ball there is no second one.

"Something went wrong, I have to think about it again. It was a mistake and I will learn from it. I felt good, it wasn't nerves. I trained hard for this chance and it started as a nightmare. I don't blame the referee or anyone else, I go back to train and work hard."

Watford went on to pick up a 3-0 win at Vicarage Road, leaving Liverpool ninth in the Premier League table after 17 games.
