Dalglish calls for Cardiff respect

Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish has called on his players to show Cardiff City respect ahead of today's Carling Cup final.

The Reds are hoping to claim their first piece of silverware since 2006 with a win over their Championship opponents at Wembley Stadium.

"We have respected the competition this season and we have respected the opposition we have played against," said the Scot. "We must never get away from that. We would never dream of being disrespectful to anybody."

Liverpool have won the competition on seven previous occasions.
