Daniel Sturridge undergoes surgery on hip

Daniel Sturridge has been forced to undergo surgery on a hip problem in the United States as the Liverpool striker looks to put his injury troubles behind him.

The 25-year-old has only managed to make 18 appearances for his club this season due to a number of setbacks, and he has failed to regain full fitness since being treated for a thigh injury earlier in the campaign.

Just want to let the world know I've had a successful operation on my hip today and I want to thank God for allowing that to be possible. Onwards and upwards from here. Thanks for the support. Daniel x

Liverpool have not yet confirmed how long the England international's recovery will take.
