Liverpool's Jordan Rossiter faces lengthy spell on sidelines

Liverpool youngster Jordan Rossiter could be out of action for the rest of the season after picking up an injury during an FA Youth Cup defeat to Birmingham City.

Liverpool midfielder Jordan Rossiter could be out of action for "a fair few weeks" after picking up an injury on Friday night.

The 17-year-old limped off in an FA Youth Cup defeat to Birmingham City on Friday night, although the extent of the damage was unknown at the time.

However, Liverpool Under-18 coach Neil Critchley has told the Liverpool Echo that it looks as though it could force the midfielder to miss a number of games.

He said: "Jordan was in a lot of pain in the dressing room after the game and when Jordan's in pain you know it's serious so we feared the worst.

"He's had a scan and it looks like he hasn't broken anything which is good news.

"It's either ligament damage or a severe sprain but he's still facing a fair few weeks out."

Rossiter scored his first Liverpool goal on his only appearance for the club so far, a League Cup victory over Middlesbrough in September.
