Rossiter faces lengthy spell on sidelines

Liverpool midfielder Jordan Rossiter could be out of action for "a fair few weeks" after picking up an injury on Friday night.

The 17-year-old limped off in an FA Youth Cup defeat to Birmingham City on Friday night, although the extent of the damage was unknown at the time.

However, Liverpool Under-18 coach Neil Critchley has told the Liverpool Echo that it looks as though it could force the midfielder to miss a number of games.

He said: "Jordan was in a lot of pain in the dressing room after the game and when Jordan's in pain you know it's serious so we feared the worst.

"He's had a scan and it looks like he hasn't broken anything which is good news.

"It's either ligament damage or a severe sprain but he's still facing a fair few weeks out."

Rossiter scored his first Liverpool goal on his only appearance for the club so far, a League Cup victory over Middlesbrough in September.
