Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp reveals that Emre Can is likely to have a scan on Monday to determine whether he can play a part in the latter stages of the season.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that Emre Can is likely to have a scan on Monday to determine whether the midfielder can play a part in the latter stages of the season.

The Germany international was expected to be out for the rest of the campaign as he struggled to overcome the back injury he suffered against Watford in mid-March.

However, Can has responded well to treatment over the past fortnight and the Reds are hoping that a scan on Monday will give him the green light to resume full training.

"Emre will be assessed on Monday to check how it has improved," Klopp told The Mirror.

"He has done a lot of things and it feels really good but in the end you always need a doctor to tell you: 'Now it's fine, now you can go again.' That's the situation. I think he will have a scan on Monday and then we will know more.

"I don't know exactly what he did but it's something to do with a bone in his back. He couldn't really move properly. Now it looks like he can do pretty much everything normal. But somebody needs to tell him that it's really fine. That would be good news for us."

Can, who has made 166 appearances for Liverpool, is out of contract at the end of the campaign.
