Brewster out for "three to four months"

Liverpool have confirmed that young striker Rhian Brewster is facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines after undergoing surgery on his ankle.

The 17-year-old, who is yet to play for the first XI at Anfield, sustained ligament damage to his right ankle during an Under-23 match against Manchester City in January.

The surgery was carried out earlier this week and a statement on the Reds website added that Brewster "will now begin a period of rehabilitation at the Reds' youth base in Kirkby" with a layoff of "three to four months".

Brewster has scored five goals in 11 Premier League 2 appearances for Neil Critchley's side this season, and has added a further four appearances in the UEFA Youth League for Steven Gerrard's Under-19s.

In addition, Brewster was a member of the England team crowned winners of the Under-17s World Cup last year.
