Liverpool team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Crystal Palace

Liverpool injury, suspension list vs. Crystal Palace

Liverpool will be aiming to pick up their first win of the 2022-23 Premier League season when they welcome Crystal Palace to Anfield on Monday night.

The Reds went behind twice against Fulham courtesy of Aleksandar Mitrovic's header and penalty before restoring parity through Darwin Nunez and Mohamed Salah.

Jurgen Klopp's side now make their return to home comforts seeking to right the wrongs of last weekend against a Palace side whose opening fixture ended in a 2-0 loss to Arsenal.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up Liverpool's latest injury and suspension news ahead of the clash with the Eagles.

Thiago Alcantara

Status: Out Type of injury: Hamstring Possible return date: September 18 (vs. Chelsea)

The luckless Thiago Alcantara suffered a serious hamstring injury in the draw with Fulham at the weekend, and the Spaniard could now be set for up to six weeks on the sidelines.

Diogo Jota

Status: Out Type of injury: Hamstring Possible return date: August 22 (vs. Manchester United)

Similarly, Diogo Jota suffered a recurrence of a previous hamstring problem in pre-season, but there is hope that the Portuguese attacker could return before the end of the month.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain

Status: Out Type of injury: Hamstring Possible return date: Unknown

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain represents another hamstring-related absentee in the Anfield ranks, and the ex-Arsenal man will spend at least several more weeks on the sidelines recovering.

Ibrahima Konate

Status: Out Type of injury: Knee Possible return date: Unknown

Ibrahima Konate missed the draw with Fulham due to a knee injury he sustained against Strasbourg in pre-season, and Klopp has admitted that the Frenchman will be missing for "a while".

Naby Keita

Status: Minor doubt Type of injury: Illness Possible return date: August 15 (vs. Crystal Palace)

Naby Keita was not able to recover from an illness in time to take on Fulham, but Klopp is confident that the Guinea international will be available for selection on Monday.

Curtis Jones

Status: Out Type of injury: Calf Possible return date: August 27 (vs. Bournemouth)

Curtis Jones completes Liverpool's midfield injury list as he nurses a calf problem, and the Englishman will spend at least another couple of weeks in the treatment room.

Caoimhin Kelleher

Status: Out Type of injury: Groin Possible return date: August 22 (vs. Manchester United)

Caoimhin Kelleher's groin problem will not let up in time for him to be available on Monday, but there is a chance that the Irish goalkeeper could come into contention for the following trip to Old Trafford a week later.

Kostas Tsimikas

Status: Major doubt Type of injury: Knock Possible return date: August 15 (vs. Crystal Palace)

Kostas Tsimikas's knock was serious enough to keep him out of the draw with Fulham, but there is a chance that the left-back could apply for a spot on the bench on Monday.

Joel Matip

Status: Major doubt Type of injury: Groin Possible return date: August 15 (vs. Crystal Palace)

Reports emerged on Friday night claiming that Joel Matip had emerged as a doubt for the meeting with Palace due to a groin injury, so it remains to be seen if the centre-back will be considered for a place here.
