Liverpool team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Norwich City

Liverpool injury, suspension list vs. Norwich

Liverpool get their Premier League campaign underway on Friday night when they play host to Norwich City at Anfield.

Jurgen Klopp's side should be ready for the meeting, with the newly-promoted outfit having played seven friendlies and the Community Shield in preparation for the new season.

The most recent outing at Wembley Stadium ended in a penalty-shootout defeat to Manchester City, although Klopp would have been relieved to come through the game with no extra fitness issues.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up their latest injury and suspension news ahead of Friday's fixture.

Sadio Mane

Status: Slight doubt Type of injury: Lack of fitness Possible return date: August 9 (vs. Norwich)

As a result of the Africa Cup of Nations, Mane only returned to pre-season training on Monday. It leaves the Senegal international as a major doubt ahead of the meeting with the Canaries, but do not be surprised to see the attacker named on the bench.

James Milner

Status: Slight doubt Type of injury: Muscle Possible return date: August 9 (vs. Norwich)

Milner missed out on the Community Shield due to what was described by Klopp as a 'minor muscle injury'. However, the midfielder is expected to train in the build-up to the game at Anfield.

Nathaniel Clyne

Status: Out Type of injury: Knee Possible return date: Unknown

Clyne sustained a serious knee injury during the early stages of pre-season, and the full-back will not return until the second half of the campaign at the earliest.
