Liverpool transfer update: Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland

Liverpool transfer update: Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland. Read on to find out which players could be making a move to Liverpool this transfer window.

Liverpool isn't known for doing a lot of business during January. With so many players at the top of their game that could fit into Liverpool's system, they are looking more and more likely to open their wallets.

If you are into sports betting, you would know not to rely on rumours, but some of these are looking like they could come to fruition.

Erling Haaland & Kylian Mbappe

Haaland and Mbappe go together because they are two of the best and hottest talents in the world right now. Every club that can afford them, Liverpool included, want them on their books, but the competition is stiff.

Kylian Mbappe has spoken about potentially leaving Liverpool, as he has also stated that he wants to leave PSG for a new challenge. While coming to the Premier League and joining the Reds would be excellent for both the league and Liverpool, it is looking unlikely.

Raphinha

A player who has been impressing every manager since Leeds got back into the Premier League is Raphinha. While Liverpool has some big, strong midfielders, an attacking player in the middle of the park is a must. The midfielder has pace strength and is ice-cold in front of the goal.

Raphinha can also be tempted with Champions League football, and while he has made it clear that he will work hard to keep Leeds up, it is only a matter of time before a player like him looks for a bigger challenge.

Ivan Toney

Ivan Toney has been a brilliant surprise in this Premier season. While Brentford may be struggling, the 31-year old striker still manages to find the back of the net. With rumours swirling of Sadio Mane possibly moving away in the next season or two and contract talks with Mo Salah reaching an impasse, Toney is the type of player Liverpool need.

Barring Sadio Mane and Mo Salah leaving, Liverpool will still want a backup. Divock Origi is only just staying in the first team, and with barely any game time under his belt, he will seek a move too. Toney is looking like an excellent option right now.

Adame Traore

Jurgen Klopp has praised Adame Traore on numerous occasions and possesses the characteristics that would allow him to fit into the Liverpool squad. He is strong, very quick, and feeds off the service provided by his defenders.

Having the speed of Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson at the back, Traore in the middle and Mo and Sadio upfront, would make Liverpool's attacking speed similar to a bullet train.

Florian Wirtz

Florian Wirtz has been in Liverpool's crosshairs for a little while now. Once again, with Mo Salah, Sadio Mane and Divock Origi all getting nearer to the contracts expiring, a young attacker like Wirtz is the perfect relationship.

The 19-year old attacking midfielder has been putting in world-class performances for Bayer Leverkusen this season. German legend Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has been quoted saying Liverpool are near the front to sign the youngster, with Man United also wanting him.

Alexander Isak

Alexander Isak, the young Swede currently with Real Sociedad, not only impressed at the Euros but has been making headlines in La Liga as well. The forward has 29 goals in 80 appearances for Los Txuri-Urdin and has caught the eye of Liverpool.

In the worst possible scenario, they will have to replace Salah, Mane and Origi, or at least one of them. In this case, they will be looking to get a young player in and lock them down for the next four or five years, and Isak is an incredible choice.

Frenkie de Jong

Frenkie de Jong hasn't had the easiest time at Barcelona, and it is looking more likely that he will be seeking greener pastures. Chelsea has made their intentions clear that they will try to sign him, but Liverpool has also hinted that they could be after his signature.

Injury troubles with Joe Gome and Joel Matip have given Liverpool some defensive difficulties over the past few months and having someone solid like de Jong could be a season changer for them.

Gini Wijnaldum

Surprisingly, Gini Wijnaldum's name has re-emerged as a player that could come back to Merseyside. He left for PSG before the start of the season and hasn't had the best time while in Paris.

While a move back is unlikely, he is sure to be welcomed with open arms if he were to make it clear he wants to come back to the club where he made a name for himself.
