How Liverpool could line up against Leicester City

Sports Mole looks at how Liverpool could line up for Saturday's Premier League clash with former manager Brendan Rodgers and Leicester City at Anfield.

Liverpool welcome Brendan Rodgers back to Anfield on Saturday afternoon as his high-flying Leicester City side look to become the first English team to take points off the Merseysiders this season.

Victory for Liverpool would extend their winning streak to 17 top-flight matches and ensure that they go into the second international break of the season at least five points clear at the top courtesy of eight wins from eight.

However, Leicester are sure to pose problems having made a fine start to the campaign themselves, with only Saturday's hosts and champions Manchester City above them in the Premier League table.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how Jurgen Klopp could set his side up for the contest.

The headline news for Liverpool this weekend could be the return of first-choice goalkeeper Alisson Becker, who has not featured since the opening day of the season.

The Brazilian will be assessed in the buildup to the game, but if he is anything less than 100% then Klopp may opt to wait until after the international break, with Adrian proving to be an able deputy so far.

Liverpool's other main injury concern right now is Joel Matip, whose presence alongside Virgil van Dijk was missed in midweek as the Reds threw away a three-goal lead before eventually recovering to edge a seven-goal thriller against Red Bull Salzburg.

Matip picked up a knock against Sheffield United last weekend, forcing him out of that Champions League clash, and Klopp has confirmed that he will be cautious with the defender and give him the international break to recover.

Much of the rest of the team picks itself, although midfield places do seem to be up for grabs. Fabinho has cemented his place in the team, but around him any two of Jordan Henderson, Georginio Wijnaldum, James Milner, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Adam Lallana and Naby Keita could start.

Keita returned off the bench for a very brief cameo in midweek and may be hopeful of earning his first league start since April, although Milner gave the Reds some much-needed control over the game against Salzburg when he came on in midweek and could have worked his way into starting contention.
