Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers to assess Steven Gerrard's fitness

Rodgers to assess Gerrard's fitness

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has claimed that he will assess Steven Gerrard's hamstring issue before deciding whether to play him against Bolton Wanderers on Wednesday.

The captain was left out of the squad that secured a 2-0 win over West Ham United at Anfield last Saturday after he played 120 minutes against Chelsea in midweek.

Tomorrow, the Reds will take on Championship opponents Bolton on away turf in an FA Cup fourth-round replay following the goalless draw at Anfield a fortnight ago.

"He's fine," Rodgers told the club's official website. "I've got to look at the risk as well, and how tight his hamstring was after the game. It was 120 minutes.

"We measure the recovery process and look at that. If it's too much of a risk we feel, like you saw on Saturday we have got other players to come in and we can just manage that recovery process for him individually."

Gerrard, who will leave Liverpool for MLS side Los Angeles Galaxy in the summer, will make his 700th appearance for the club if he plays on Wednesday.
