Jurgen Klopp focused on Europa League

Jurgen Klopp focused on Europa League

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has insisted that he is fully focused on his side's Europa League last-32 second leg with Augsburg, despite having the League Cup final on the horizon.

Klopp will have the chance to pick up silverware just four months after arriving at the club when his side take on Manchester City at Wembley on Sunday.

However, before that they will welcome Augsburg to Anfield looking to book their place in the last 16 of the Europa League following a goalless draw in the first leg, and Klopp insists that the visiting Germans have his full attention.

"If you think about the second step before the first step you will always fall down," Klopp told reporters.

"In this competition we've got big aims but that relies on performances and that's what we have to show against Augsburg. The situation is clear to us. There's no reason to play FC Augsburg's game, we need to assert ourselves and play our game.

"We want to assert ourselves and play our game. Augsburg aren't just a counter-attacking team. We are aware of their quality. Tomorrow's game is exciting. I can't think of a week since I've been here that hasn't been important."

Liverpool have not won a trophy since lifting the League Cup in 2012.
