Liverpool vs. Toulouse: Head-to-head record and past meetings

Ahead of Thursday's Europa League clash between Liverpool and Toulouse, Sports Mole looks at the head-to-head record and previous meetings between the two clubs.

Liverpool can take a big stride towards the knockout stages of the Europa League when they welcome Toulouse to Anfield on Thursday night.

Jurgen Klopp's side have won two from two in Group E so far to top the standings, while they boast a 100% record in front of their own fans across all competitions this season.

Toulouse are also unbeaten in the Europa League so far this term, though, picking up four points from their opening two games.

Here, Sports Mole takes an in-depth look at the head-to-head record and previous meetings between the two sides.

Head-to-head record

Previous meetings: 2
Liverpool wins: 2
Draws: 0
Toulouse wins: 0

The only previous competitive meetings between these two sides came in the third qualifying round for the Champions League in 2007-08, the season after Liverpool were beaten finalists in that competition.

Any exit would have been a major upset for the Champions League runners-up, but Rafael Benitez's side comfortably avoided that fate with a 5-0 aggregate win.

The first leg in France saw Andriy Voronin get the only goal of the game shortly before half time, and the Reds completed the job in emphatic fashion on Toulouse's only previous trip to Anfield.

Peter Crouch opened the scoring in that match, before Sami Hyypia doubled the advantage shortly after half time and Dirk Kuyt then added a late brace to make it 4-0.

In total, Liverpool have played 30 games against French opposition before, winning 17 of those and losing 10.

The most recent of those came against Paris Saint-Germain in the 2018-19 Champions League group stage, when they won at home but lost away in a season that ended with them lifting the trophy.

Of the 15 of those matches to have taken place at home, Liverpool have won 12 with one draw and two defeats, keeping clean sheets in nine of them.

As for Toulouse, those two past meetings with Liverpool are their only previous European outings against English opposition.
