Glen Johnson denies Roy Hodgson rift

Liverpool defender Glen Johnson claims that his feud with England boss Roy Hodgson is no longer an issue.

England defender Glen Johnson has insisted that his fall-out with Roy Hodgson is well and truly in the past.

Hodgson strongly criticised Johnson's form in November 2010 while he was in charge of the attacking right-back as manager of Liverpool.

However, the 27-year-old is adamant that he was not concerned by the incident when his former club boss was appointed as the national team manager last month.

"I was not worried one bit," explained Johnson. "I was pleased for Roy to get the job. Whatever happened at Liverpool happened for a reason. Obviously no-one can change that but it is done and dusted.

"I spoke to Roy. We had a general chat, the same sort of chat he had with everyone else. There was never any problems.

"I did not feel I had to prove anything, no. Whatever happened at Liverpool happened. Roy picked me for his first squad so I didn't have to prove anything."

Johnson is expected to win his 40th senior international cap when the Three Lions face Italy in the quarter-finals of Euro 2012 on Sunday.
