Joe Gomez claims that his side hold no fear of facing Europe's top teams in the last-16 stage of the Champions League.

Joe Gomez has claimed that his side hold no fear of facing Europe's top teams in the last-16 stage of the Champions League.

The Merseyside outfit secured progression to the knockout stages in style last night, overcoming Spartak Moscow 7-0 at Anfield to see them end the group stage top of their section.

Although they may face strong competition in the form of Bayern Munich, Juventus or champions Real Madrid in the next round, the 20-year-old insists that keeping a winning mentality will be key in helping them beat whoever stands in their way.

"There are some big teams in there like Real," talkSPORT quotes him as saying.

"Obviously they are all big games and we will be ready for them but we believe we can beat anyone and we have to have that mentality.

"We have great quality and they can be scared of us the same way we can be wary of them so that's good."

On the domestic front, Liverpool will aim to maintain their top-four status when they host Everton in the Merseyside derby on Sunday.
