Leicester City have reportedly fallen behind in the race for Feyenoord attacker Calvin Stengs.
The Foxes are back in the Championship after an immediate relegation from the Premier League under Ruud Van Nistelrooy and Steve Cooper last term.
One-time English champions Leicester are yet to sign an outfield player during the summer transfer window as they aim to bounce back to the top flight.
Marti Cifuentes's men are back in action on Friday night, when a promotion-chasing Birmingham City outfit visit the King Power Stadium.
Until then, those of a Leicester persuasion will be working extremely hard to lure transfer targets to the club ahead of the September 1 deadline.
Leicester fall behind in Stengs race?
According to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Leicester could be set to lose out on one of their key transfer targets this week.
The report claims that the recently-relegated Foxes have fallen behind a number of rivals in the race for Feyenoord man Stengs.
It is understood that Serie A newcomers Pisa are currently leading the hunt for the signature of the 26-year-old attacking midfielder.
The Italian outfit and Feyenoord are set to enter discussions over a possible switch for the player on Tuesday (August 26).
As well as Cifuentes's Leicester, Scottish giants Celtic are also supposedly keen on a deal for the eight-time Netherlands international.
Leicester, Feyenoord demands
After falling down the pecking order with Feyenoord over recent months, Stengs is available for a move away at the end of this window.
It is said that Leicester are targeting a loan move for the 26-year-old, who has never played in England, let alone the Championship, before.
Stengs managed just 12 Eredivisie appearances for the Pride of the South last term, scoring one goal and providing three assists.
