Report: Leicester City sack Nigel Pearson

A report claims that Nigel Pearson has been sacked as manager of Leicester City with the club bottom of the Premier League table.

Leicester City have reportedly sacked manager Nigel Pearson this evening following a run of three straight defeats in the Premier League.

The Foxes have struggled to keep afloat in the top flight this campaign following their promotion from the Championship, currently sitting at the bottom of the table and four points adrift of safety.

Having gone 13 games without a win earlier this term, Pearson looked to have turned things around at the King Power stadium with an impressive run of results at the start of the year, although yesterday's defeat at home to Crystal Palace appears to have been the Englishman's last game in charge.

That match was marred by an incident towards the end of the contest when Pearson appeared to grab Palace midfielder James McArthur by the throat, a flashpoint which comes less than a month after he was handed a one-match ban by the Football Association following a confrontation with one of his own supporters.

Sky Sports News claims that the Leicester manager has tonight been relieved of his duties at the East Midlands outfit, although no official confirmation has yet been given.

Pearson has spent six years at the Foxes across two managerial spells.
