Barnsley denied late on

Barnsley denied late on

Barnsley came from behind against high-flying Leicester City but have been denied all three points thanks to a last-gasp Jamie Vardy goal.

Martyn Waghorn had the first sight of goal after four minutes, but he could not beat Luke Steele despite working the Barnsley goalkeeper.

Four minutes later it was 1-0 to Leicester, with Knockaert curling into the bottom corner.

Barnsley were level on 26 minutes and Kasper Schmeichel was to blame. His pass to Paul Konchesky was cut out and after a scramble in the box Stephen Dawson finished.

It got worse for the hosts as Barnsley made it 2-1 with five minutes to play in the half when Jonathan Greening lobbed into the box for Reuben Noble-Lazarus to finish with a bicycle kick.

Leicester started to control the game after the break, with both Akos Buzsaky and Andy King testing Steele.

Steele was again the hero from a hard, low strike by King, the goalkeeper somehow getting a palm on it to push wide.

However, Vardy scored late on to deny Barnsley the win and despite a late flurry the visitors clung on for the point.
