Pearson: 'We must keep destiny in our own hands'

Leicester City manager Nigel Pearson has revealed that there will be no complacency in his side's ranks when they face Newcastle United on Saturday afternoon.

Fours wins in five games have helped the Foxes move out of the relegation zone, but despite facing a team who have lost seven successive fixtures, Pearson insists that his players are motivated to keep their "destiny in their own hands".

The 51-year-old told the club's official website: "I think it's important for us to go into the final few games with our destiny in our own hands. That's what we're aiming to do. It's not a case of now changing the plan.

"That's how we intend to go about these next games. We've four left and three at home but it would be wide of the mark to assume that some games will be easier than others.

"When you play against sides that are also fighting for their lives, it throws up an element that makes it difficult to predict. We need to make sure our performances remain of a high standard."

Victory for Leicester would take them to within one point of their opponents in the league table.
