After replacing Paulo Sousa last season, Sven-Goran Eriksson guided Leicester from the bottom of the table to a comfortable tenth-place finish.

Entering his first full season at the King Power Stadium in the summer, Eriksson splashed out on several big-name signings – including Jermaine Beckford and Matt Mills – as Leicester were labelled preseason promotion favourites.

The Swede later left the club by mutual consent, before being replaced by former boss Nigel Pearson. Here, Sports Mole takes a look at the club's season so far.

August

Under Eriksson, the club began their season on the road with wins in both the league and Carling Cup. However, back to back defeats at the King Power Stadium saw them sink into the bottom third of the table.

A draw at Nottingham Forest followed, before a win over top-of-the-table Southampton took them back to within a six-point swing of first place as the opening month of the season came to a close.

September

Leicester's up-and-down start to the season continued with a tie at Oakwell, at which point reports were surfacing that suggested the Swede could be sacked.

Meanwhile, the club responded with a vital win at home over league leaders Brighton.

However, consecutive showdowns at Cardiff across competitions saw Eriksson's side crash out of the Carling Cup on penalties and emerge with one point in the league. A point from Middlesbrough wasn't enough to earn a top-ten spot entering October.

October

David Nugent opened the scoring against Nigel Clough's third-placed Rams on his return to action after a month out with a hamstring issue as Leicester ran out 4-0 winners and moved back into the top third.

The club then bounced back from defeat at St. Andrews with a win against Watford. However, a 3-0 home defeat to strugglers Millwall spelt the end for Eriksson, who left the club that week ahead of a narrow loss at Upton Park.

November

Under the caretaker management of Jon Rudkin and Mike Stowell, the Foxes won their first game on the road since opening weekend at Turf Moor.

However, on the back of a 1-0 home defeat to Leeds, the club confirmed that former boss Nigel Pearson would be returning to the club to replace Eriksson after the Swede's sudden departure.

The manager made an immediate impact, leading Leicester over Crystal Palace, Blackpool and taking a point from Fratton Park to move into the playoff positions.

December

Pearson suffered his first defeat in charge on his return to Hull, the club he left for Leicester.

The following week, the Foxes were held at home against mid-table Peterborough, before second-from-bottom Doncaster were able to beat them at the Keepmoat Stadium.

Continuing their fall down the table in December, the club took a single point from their home tie with Ipswich Town, which left them in 12th place.
