Youri Tielemans, Harvey Barnes, James Maddison and Jamie Vardy score the goals as Leicester City beat fellow strugglers Wolverhampton Wanderers 4-0 in the Premier League.

Leicester City have moved out of the relegation zone in the Premier League table courtesy of a 4-0 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux.

Brendan Rodgers's side were bottom on eight points heading into the encounter, but a strong performance from the visitors saw them collect all three points against their fellow strugglers to move into 16th position.

Leicester took the lead in just the eighth minute of the contest when Youri Tielemans expertly picked out the top corner after a James Maddison free kick had only been cleared to the edge of the box.

Eleven minutes later, the visitors had their second, with Harvey Barnes combining with Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall in an advanced area before picking out the bottom corner with a clever finish.

Wolves had two decent chances to register in the first half, but Diego Costa saw a close-range effort blocked by James Justin before Daniel Podence was denied by a smart save from Danny Ward late in the half.

The home side were more solid at the start of the second period, but they conceded a third in the 65th minute, with Maddison navigating his way to the edge of the Wolves box before picking out the bottom corner with a brilliant strike.

Wolves were shaking defensively, and Leicester took full advantage, scoring a fourth in the 79th minute through Jamie Vardy, who met a low cross from Timothy Castagne.

The hosts had more possession (61%) and more shots (21) than Leicester (five) during the contest, but the superior finishing from Rodgers's team proved to be the difference.

The victory is just Leicester's third in the league this season, while it is now seven defeats for Wolves, who have dropped into 19th position in the table.

Next up for the home side is a trip to Brentford next Saturday, while Leicester will be bidding to make it back-to-back wins when they face the champions Manchester City on the same afternoon.
