Latest transfer news and rumours: Leeds agree Lucas Perri deal, West Ham hold talks with Callum Wilson

Perri to Leeds, Wilson to West Ham: Latest transfer news and rumours

Leeds United have reportedly reached an agreement with Lyon to sign goalkeeper Lucas Perri.

The newly-promoted Premier League side have been on the lookout for a new shot-stopper this summer as Illan Meslier has fallen out of favour under head coach Daniel Farke.

According to the Daily Mail, Leeds have agreed a deal worth up to £15.6m to sign Perri, who is set to undergo a medical at the club’s pre-season training camp in Germany.

Perri is expected to become Leeds’ new first-choice goalkeeper ahead of Meslier and Karl Darlow, and he could be signed in time to feature in their next friendly against Villarreal on Saturday.

The 27-year-old only joined Lyon last summer from Brazilian giants Botafogo for around £3.25m and he established himself as an important first-team figure under head coach Paulo Fonseca in the 2024-25 campaign.

Perri kept 10 clean sheets in 33 Ligue 1 appearances to help Lyon secure a sixth-placed finish, while he also featured in 11 of the club's 12 Europa League fixtures en route to the quarter-finals.

The Brazil Under-23 international has previously been linked the likes of Newcastle United and Roma, but Leeds look set to win the race for his signature and unveil the goalkeeper as their seventh summer signing.

Free agent Wilson ‘in talks’ with West Ham

Staying in the Premier League, West Ham United are reportedly in talks to sign free agent Callum Wilson.

The 33-year-old officially became a free agent when his contract at Newcastle United expired on June 30, ending his five-year spell at St James’ Park.

Wilson scored 49 goals and provided 11 assists in 130 appearances for the Magpies across all competitions, but he struggled with injuries last season and was limited to just two starts and 16 substitute appearances in the Premier League.

According to BBC Sport, West Ham are currently in talks with Wilson, who is understood to have attracted interest from a number of Premier League clubs and also has options in MLS.

Head coach Graham Potter is keen to bolster his attacking options this summer following the departures of Mohammed Kudus and Danny Ings, and uncertainty over the long-term future of Michail Antonio.

Niclas Fullkrug is the Hammers’ only recognised striker in their senior squad, while captain Jarrod Bowen is also capable of operating in a central role.

Flamengo hijack Besiktas’ deal to sign Emerson

Elsewhere, AC Milan full-back Emerson Royal is reportedly closing in on a move back to his native Brazil as he has agreed to join Flamengo.

The 26-year-old initially looked set to fly to Turkey and finalise a move to Besiktas, who had allegedly agreed a loan deal with a €10m option-to-buy buy clause with Milan.

However, Flamengo now appear to have successfully hijacked the move as journalist Fabrizio Romano claims that the Brazilian giants have agreed a €9m deal to sign Emerson permanently from Milan this summer.

Flamengo director Jose Boto is said to be the man behind the club’s hijack and Emerson is scheduled to undergo a medical after reaching a verbal agreement over personal terms.

Emerson made 26 appearances across all competitions for Milan last season and is set to leave San Siro almost 12 months after joining the Rossoneri from Tottenham Hotspur for around €15m.

Flamengo have stepped up their interest in Emerson after agreeing to sell fellow right-back Wesley to Roma for around €25m.
