Leeds United centre-back Pontus Jansson says that he wants to see the club's "ambitions" following interest from elsewhere for the Swedish international.

Leeds United centre-back Pontus Jansson has said that he wants to see the club's "ambitions" following interest from elsewhere for the Swedish international.

Jansson, who signed for Leeds on a permanent deal from Torino last summer, has recently been linked with a move to West Ham United and Southampton in the Premier League.

The defender has admitted that he wants to play in the top flight, but said that he is prepared to fight for promotion with his current employers before moving clubs.

"I want to see the club's ambitions. I want to play in the Premier League but I don't want to take those questions before the World Cup," the 27-year-old told Aftonbladet. "I've said that to [my agent] Martin [Dahlin]. Everything can change during the World Cup.

"There is interest. All I know is that I'm going to stay in England. It will take a lot for me to leave England. I really enjoy Leeds but I want to see the ambition that now is the time to take Leeds up to the Premier League."

Jansson is part of the Sweden squad that will face Germany, Mexico and South Korea in Group F at the World Cup.
