Uwe Rosler hails "terrific" Leeds United performance in pre-season defeat

Uwe Rosler believes that there is plenty to be positive about, despite seeing his Leeds United side fall to a 2-1 defeat against Eintracht Frankfurt.

Leeds United manager Uwe Rosler has heaped praise on his players, despite seeing them fall to a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Eintracht Frankfurt.

The Whites came unstuck after taking a first-half lead through Steve Morison, as goals from Johannes Flum and Stefan Reinartz won the pre-season friendly for the German side.

Rosler was delighted by what he saw, though, claiming that he got exactly what he wanted out of the 90-minute affair in Austria.

"I think the players were terrific," the 46-year-old told the club's official website. "We got exactly what we hoped for - we played against a team with very good ball possession. We worked very hard against them and we worked extremely well in the shape.

"The longer the game went on, we adapted to their quality a little bit better. We kept the ball and scored the goal on the break. For periods in the second half, we matched them in the passing. I'm very, very happy - everybody got a run-out.

"It did a lot for our fitness and there were no injuries. Pre-season is all about preparing for 10 months. Today we saw a lot of mental strength. Everyone who started or came on wanted to impress and work extremely hard. We got exactly what we wanted - a very good physical session."

Leeds return to action on Saturday when they take on Hoffenheim.
